A New Assessor's Website For Quincy

scroll_down.png

We’re happy to announce that this fall Quincy, MA and CIDARE created a new, well-designed Quincy assessing website! Check the website out at: https://assessors.quincyma.gov/assessors-home .

Easy to Find Information

One of the main goals of the website was to make it easy for users to find information. CIDARE focused on clear organizational principles and simple layouts as one way to make it easy to find essential information.

Organizationally, the most important topics have dedicated webpages and each webpage is sectioned into an explanation summary, key forms and brochures, and a call to action (i.e. paying a real estate tax bill, filing an abatement, scheduling an inspection, or some other action). The page bar at the top of each webpage and the in-page the section menu make navigation intuitive.

Many types of information are readily available, ready for immediate consumption. Above is the explanation video for property inspection.
Most pages have a call to action. In the above example, a person filing an abatement can go through a set of steps to determine if they should file an abatement.
Navigation is made easy thanks to a persistent navigation bar.
In-page menus allow users to jump directly to different sections of the page.

Digital Forms

The second goal was to simplify users’ ability to act. To accomplish this goal, CIDARE integrated its CIDARE E-Forms system into the website. There is a dedicated "Forms and Requests" page where taxpayers can download forms access and complete forms many different ways:

  • Users can access most forms in PDF form and either print the form to fill out by hand and send responses via mail through in-person drop-off,  or or by downloading the form to their computer and sending the responses email;

  • Users also have the choice to on the E-Form link and fill out the form online using their phone or their computer.

In all cases, responses end up the CIDARE E-Forms system for easy tracking and follow-up, ready for response from the assessor.

Better Communication

A final focus was on making taxpayer communication easier. Quincy achieved this goal by creating a Contact Us page (in contrast to the typical contact us link most government websites have).

Using the Contact Us page, a taxpayer can select the topic or topics they’re inquiring about and send a note directly to the person in the office that can best help them. Taxpayers don’t have to use the Contact Us form if they don’t want to - the direct lines for each person that can best answer questions on a given topic are prominent so that a taxpayer can call directly and not have to waste time going through an options menu to get a question answered or a concern addressed.

The contact form routes communication directly to the appropriate person.

A Better Experience

Overall, the new website is a much better experience than the typical government website, making it easier for Quincy to provide better customer service, answer questions, and help taxpayers with their assessing questions and concerns.

Our sincere thanks to the team in Quincy for collaborating with us on this great project!
